Stanford Winter Quarter 2015
ME 210 Introduction to Mechatronic Design - Final Project
After an exciting quarter, we built a "basketball"-playing robot, competing against 35 other teams after just under three weeks of construction. The following sections detail our design.
Detailed guideline for the project is available below:
- Mechanical: CAD designs for laser cutting, motor considerations, construction
- Electronic circuit design
- Control software design

Modular Integration & Project Management
Starting our project with a GANTT chart of rough milestones that we want to achieve turned out to be very helpful in coordinating group efforts and keeping discipline high. Overall, we ended up sticking rather close to our plan.
We used Slack as a messaging tool for the project -- this was helpful especially in the initial design period, where the ability to separate discussions into different threads, along with easy uploading of files and text, allowed collaboration when we couldn't be in the same room. We used GitHub for collaborative code development (see "Software" section).
